Bournemouth University ran online coverage in the month leading up to the US election in 2016, as well as overnight coverage alongside radio and TV bulletins. I was the online editor, working with a large online and social media team, and converging with television and radio teams to create professional, coherent and original content. I thoroughly enjoyed the responsibility of the project, and the challenges it brought.
I spent two weeks at the local newspaper, where I put my news writing and interviewing skills to the test. I was able to attend editorial meetings, write several articles for online and print, working closely with the news and features team.
As part of Bournemouth University’s General Election coverage, I worked as a reporter in the lead up to the uni’s overnight coverage on election night. I was able to interview MP’s, and worked as a sub editor on the main night. It was interesting to watch the election results unfold in what was a surprising night. I was able to enhance my news writing and politics knowledge during this project.
I spent a week at the PRS for Music’s in house magazine in 2012. I was able to write several articles for online, and is where I realised my true passion for journalism.
